Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Start: May 2019

Ambition. A distant dream. A timid idea. A group of friends. And then hard work. At times overwhelming and incredibly frustrating – satisfying and rewarding for every encountered difficulty.

We begin cooperation with the Warsaw University of Technology and Rzeczpospolita. We’re looking for sponsors: dozens of emails sent, several conversations conducted, setting up an online fundraising, and organizing fairs at schools. On September 26, the first article about us appears in Rzeczpospolita, and on October 19 we are guests on the Polish Radio Four in the program “Station Science”. We’re picking up speed. On October 23, we participate in the Schrack conference, the next day we have the pleasure to meet with the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology and the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, and then participate in the Youth Future Conference. On November 16, we take part in Koderka. On December 10, we are guests on Polish Radio again – this time on Jedynka in the Eureka program. We become more recognizable. By January 2020, we already have 11 sponsors. January 4: Kickoff – getting to know the rules of this year’s game and a great brainstorming session. A race against time. Meetings with Spice Gears – Team 5883, a lot of knowledge gained in a pleasant atmosphere. Just before the trip, we tell children about FRC and encourage them to follow their dreams. More articles about us appear in Rzeczpospolita and on the Somfy website. 8 weeks fly by in an instant. Full of excitement, on March 3, we met at the airport to fly to Istanbul. The first days were tough, new problems arose with the robot and not only, but luckily we didn’t lose faith and we were happy with every point earned. At the next competition, held from March 9-11, we did much better, both technically and PR-wise. When choosing the final teams, we held our breaths, as we had a good chance of being chosen. Tears of sadness flowed, but also tears of joy. Each of us went through a lot to be in this place, and to rank so high as a team starting from scratch filled us with pride. A lot happened during these two weeks, and the amount of knowledge and experience gained is simply indescribable and will stay with us forever. Thank you to everyone who kept their fingers crossed for us and believed in us.
